Pre-Marital Coaching.
So you said yes, Congratulations! We hope your proposal was all that you dreamed of. Now comes the part that will require intentional preparation. I am often reminded of the 5Ps when I hear the word preparation. What are the 5P's you ask? The 5P's is a simple reminder that Prior Preparation, Prevents Poor Performance, if you prepare ahead of time, the chances to perform poorly are minimized.
The next few months will be filled with many decisions that will require teamwork together like never before. Collaboration, Accountability, and Respect should be the three character traits you pull from during this season of preparation and decision making. In all decisions that will be made, the most critical decision you can make is one that affects how you start and progress in marriage. As you plan and make decisions for your wedding day, we hope you seriously consider premarital counseling.
What is Premarital Coaching?
Many couples do not think to include premarital coaching as part of their preparation and, as a result, miss out on an opportunity to address issues and inspect the foundation they plan to build their marriage on ahead of time. Research shows that couples who received premarital coaching reported a 30 percent higher marital success rate than couples who did not. More reason as to why it is crucial to start well!
Premarital coaching is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourselves. Premarital coaching is a way for couples to connect around deeper issues amid wedding planning, which can sometimes seem very disconnecting!
Pre-Marital Counseling lasts anywhere from 6-8 weeks and helps couples build a foundation in their relationship that will make the difficult parts of marriage easier. Where marriage classes or conferences are helpful supplements, pre-marital counseling will focus specifically on you as a couple. Are you concerned about finances? In-laws? How your past will impact your relationship? We will spend more time talking about the issues that are most important to you.
What to Expect?
Prepare/Enrich is an assessment we use with couples, and over 4 million couples have taken it. For almost 40 years, Prepare/Enrich has provided Facilitators and couples with data-driven relationship insights that create clarity, focus, and a framework on which to build resilient relationships. The Prepare part works with couples preparing for marriage, and the Enrich part of the assessment works with married couples seeking to work on their marriage. The premarital phase helps identify and work through any potential areas they need to discuss that they may not have identified or have avoided discussing. We will explore strength and growth areas on our journey together and identify and manage significant stressors.
This is not therapy. Our goal is to help you resolve conflict by strengthening communication skills and, above all, work at learning to understand and appreciate your personality differences. Our work together does not involve therapy to
