Representation Matters
In a generation where marriage is under serious scrutiny, Godly Representation of Marriage is critical! Marriages that understand that although happiness is what we all strive for, there is STILL the sacrificial part of the journey that will not always feel good.
Marriages that understand the mandate and the weight of “picking up your cross and following." That the mandate to carry the cross not only applies when choosing to follow Christ but extends into how we walk the journey of marriage. That dying to yourself DAILY is required, and facing persecution WILL happen.
Marriages that understand why it is essential to put on the whole armor of God, and that when the bible says, "we wrestle not against flesh nor blood, but principalities and powers," it is a clarion call to SIT UP and be VIGILANT.
Above all, I pray for a generation of marriages that understand, that:
Put on the whole armor of God! because "we wrestle not against flesh nor blood, but principalities and powers,"
Loving your wife as Christ loved the church will require you to fully understand and embrace the depth of love He has for you. That sacrificial love has to transcend our natural desire to be selfish. But we can not talk about loving someone sacrificially if we do not understand or subscribe to Ephesians 5:28 🤷🏽♀️ or most importantly if we don’t understand the love freely given.
Submission is not old school, nor does it mean subordination 🤦🏾♀️ but rather, it’s a powerful principle that when fully understand unlocks the depths of intimacy. But we can’t even talk about submitting to a husband if we don’t understand what “as unto the Lord” means.
Mentorship as exemplified by Paul when he took Timothy under his wing, should be the agenda of every seasoned couple. To build a community that empowers, equips, admonishes, and walks along with couples, especially in the early stages.
