Situation

Johnathan McReynolds song "Situation" has been on repeat since last night. Can I be honest for a hot second? This week has been so hard! I've been in a funk that I couldn't shake!  During a conversation with my therapist yesterday, he said something that changed my outlook on my current "situation." As believers, we have become conditioned to believe that everything will/must go our way, as long as we pray "hard" enough or have "enough" faith, then God WILL move.

We forget that even Jesus asked that the cup pass him. He faced so much persecution, rejection, and ultimately isolation from the same people who swore to always be there for me. He had a "situation" similar to what many of us are secretly dealing with. Some of us better than others in terms of our outward portrayal of the situation.

Additionally, sometimes, the thorn in our side (2 Corinthians 12:7), aka that "situation" is there lest we become boastful. Some of us only pray when we are in trouble or have "situations" that give us prayer points. So I choose to count it all joy, knowing that my faith's testing produces patience (James 1:2-4), and ultimate perfection in Christ.

My prayer this morning is simple:

"I'm not asking for an outcome Or praying for results.
I’m not hoping that it all goes exactly how I want.
No, I'm not asking You to do it. Or asking that You don't.
I’m just inviting You to my situation.

You see the big picture. You hold the frame
Past, present, and future, You see the same.
I know that it's very human to want everything my way.
But if I don't get what I pray for, my hope is in Your name.”
